© Eric Kadenge
Sofia Mureithi runs an Agrovet - or farm supplies shop - in Nanyuki, Kenya. Since 2009 she has been selling maize seed and other farm inputs which are covered by the Kilimo Salama insurance scheme. She talks to Eric Kadenge about how farmers were initially doubtful about the idea of insurance, and how the first farmers to buy it benefitted, when drought occurred. She also shows Eric the system for buying and registering the insurance, which is done using a mobile phone.
